It Rained....Everyday

Tuesday: we had district lunch....our district is super funny! hahah then we had a scripture class and then we taught our investigator Craig! We stopped by a less active family the McDonalds and talked to them a litte bit as well

Wednesday: we went and taught the Mackies (sister mackie is a less active, and has 3 kids all wanted to be baptized (ages 11,9,8) and her fiance is a non member but we haven't taught him yet) it's crazy going over there, but once the kids settle down we can teach and the spirit comes! then we went chaping (knocking on doors) in a area called White City! That night we had our ward Christmas Eve services! Olu came (investigator but we have had a hard time reaching him) so that was wonderful!

Thursday: CHRISTMAS
we went to the Gillardi's for breakfast! Then we went caroling which was funny the district leader Elder Schawerman brought his guitar! Then we had Dinner at the Langs  and called home! :)

We went to the McGees and they took us to this BEAUTIFUL CASTLE! (sorry I forgot my camera cord...so pictures next time) and  then we went and did some weekly planning and then we went to the Donaldson's.

Saturday: Sister Hurskanien is sick so we went to the doctors and got her some meds and then went back I did some phone calls of the people we need to teach this week while she rested.

Sunday: They made me speak in church....:( I spoke on the Restoration and then Louise came to church (she is a new investigator) then we taught Craig! Our goal is to have him baptized on January 9th! Then we went to our flat and rested! Sister Hurskanien is very sick :(

Monday: (today)
We got up did some shopping the Elders are letting us borrow their deep fryer (Elder Wynder's parents bought him that for Christmas....know one gets it here either) but we are going to make chip! (french fries) haha on New Years Eve, but they demanded a cake..so we bought ingredients to make a double decker cake....haha we have a dinner appointment at the Langs, and training!

I am serving in Ayr, Ayrshire Scotland! I love it here!! I love this gospel and I love being out on a mission!!!

Okay so we left the MTC on Wednesday early...and went to the mission home...they took us to walk up a "hill" which was basically a mountain...note it wasn't raining, but it's wet everywhere...I almost died like 6 times...oh yeah and I was wearing a skirt...and forgot to get tennis shoes...because I thought it was a small walk...lies...hahaha it was good. We sang High on the Mountain Top and people were recording us and it was grand. Then we went back to the mission home...and did training...then got assigned a companion...her name is Sister Hurschanin...from Finland she is 6 foot, (tall people rock) and is awesome...she's been a member for 3 years and LOVES missionary work! We get along quite nicely!! I am in a small town in Ayrshire...called Ayr (air) and the members are AWESOME!!!! We get fed ALL the time!!!!!

Um Thursday was sooo overwhelming!!! We walk EVERYWHERE hahaha and it rains ALL THE TIME haha, but I was a little tired...okay a lot tired! And was down and a tad homesick...we were on our way home from the grocery store...and I said "hiyo" aka hey to this girl early 20s she smiled and we asked how she was doing (she kept walking (like most do) but we kept talking to see if she would stop) and she did! We talked about us and missionaries and stuff and she was like "yeah i've heard of you, I met elders on the street a year ago, they gave me a book of mormon but never reached me again! I'm looking for a church to accept me because I have had a crazy life, and most churches just turn me away. I read the bible sometimes...and I pray to God everyday!!" We were like WHAT!?!?!? SO that ended my day on a total high I was freaking out the whole way home!!!! Sad news is that her phone hasn't been paid...and we don't have her address just a rough area...she said it would work after the holidays! So hopefully!!!

We have 1 baptism scheduled on January 2! The Ayr Area hasn't had a baptism in over a year! But we work a lot with inactive people and have brought a lot of them back to church! We have a mom who is inactive but her 3 kids want to be baptized we have been working with them a lot! They were on schedule to get baptized next week (December 27) but they did't come to church yesterday!!! :( which means they can't! Ugh it's like JUST COME TO CHURCH SO WE CAN BAPTIZE YOU I mean like i know that's not all we want...but the kids are sooo ready!!! We visit them later today so hopefully we will get to the bottom of it!

Umm our flat is very nice...I have a large bed...I don't know what else to say...hahaha...we meet a lot of very nice people but they are very firm in the church of Scotland...I always say, "Yeah...you have a beautiful building...our building is...-" then i usually get cut off...hahaha...it's awesome! Haha oh yeah and we were walking and total movie scene we get splashed with muddy water from a car...it was sooo gross! Haha we were both laughing soooo hard!!! Hahaha crazy man crazy!!! Oh yeah and the ward buys us christmas gifts we had 4 gifts yesterday it's so funny and kind! I love it here! Love you alll!!! Hope to hear from you sooon!!!!

First Week Down!!!

First Week Down!!!!!

Hey! I made it to Europe safe and sound (even though I was worried about it!)
Got up early...flew to Colorado...where I met an interesting young man...who I talked to...he thought I was crazy...hahah then on the plane I went to get in my seat and someone was there....so I got the flight attend person and the girl didn't speak english and was drunk so i took her seat...then the flight lady was like here's free wine for being nice...oh...no thanks...hahah can i have some pringles? I got free pringles....best plane trip ever....i met more missionaries in newark airport...none from utah..but then there was 12 elders from utah hahah i was the only one from utah sent to colorado vs. chicago...which was weird that plane trip was long....very long....but i slept
Got to the mtc...kinda a blur...but we had orientation....and met my companion... and she's great Sister Swendiman from washington state....and two others in our room sister bakewell from england and sis petit from france...both soo nice.. sis swendiman is going to burmingham...sister bakewell is going to greece (so she's been here for 7 weeks and has another 2 weeks) and sis petit is going to germany......umm yea orentation and a nap we got to go to sleep early and had small devotionals...
class begun....in our distrcit there is 2 elders...Elder Stanely from manchester going to scotland and Elder Mtwatwai from africa going to burmingham.... and 6 sister ahha sister collao from chille and sister scherf from the netherlands both going to burmingham then sister sorenson from washington state going to burmingham and sister prescott from idaho going to scotland and me and my companion...so literally half the room is from america...the teacher is just like oh the americans...hahhaa we get distracted sometimes...my companion said "holla' and the teacher couldn't figure out what she was talking about he was like hello? hallow? we were all on the floor laughing...we laugh a lot. hahah the mtc is super fun
the edwards refure to me as "the babysitter" so i've explained that story a lot hahaha (i babysat for the edwards daughters children (the edwards are the mtc president)) anyways food is bland....and I'll ask siste bakewell "whats this?" she'll say the proper name and in frustration and laughing i'll say yea i don't know what that is...what''s in it! hahaha they  mock us for how we eat apparently as americans and we add a lot of salt to things i guess.....hahah super funny.
we taught our first investigator....it was hard...it is hard...haha we struggled as a companionship to be united and on the same page....hahaha...but class was good...and I learned a lot..we got to workout and we played volleyball ......i love v.ball.....so fun and such a nice break!!!
I fell asleep at churhc...awkward...and played the piano in rs..we walked to the temple and took pictures there....on the way back we saw real people REAL KIDS it was crazy ahahha then we....umm oh yea.... we watched meet the mormons. and the joseph smith movie...it was very spirtitual and AWESOME
hard day... 2 of the invesitgators....when i say that it's just teachers playing parts as some people they taught and change there name and what not...so yea...but yea they cancelled litearlly on accident one teacher got sick the other had a doctors appointment (she's prego) hahaha #pregnant anyways...we were just feeling down...but we had class and was spiritual fed....it's awesome....so awesome.......brother dudley and brother walsh are our teachers both from england and they are soo fantastic...they are funny but they keep the spirit and don't let us get too distracted...because we do...haha we laugh a lot in  my district...it's very fun...sister collao just giggles a lot and i called elder stanely a brat in volleyball (because he spiked it at me(clearly diserved it) but he was on the floor laughing literallly....apparently he's never been called that...hahaha people here are very nice and friendly....and funny...good sense of humor there is like 45 people here...so very small...I know all the sisters...but the elders...man talking to them it's like....but youre a sister... I  CAN'T TALK TO YOU...it gets annoying hahaha....oh well....
we taught 2 people and the lessons went better...I'm learning to teach the people no lesssons....and to teach with the spirit...and let him guide you...I cried...literal tears in one appointment...the spirit was strong and Im super emotional.... haha I was practicing teaching someone at the bus stop in 3 mintues about the restoration I was teaching sister collao.....and was talking really fast...and then she looked at her watch...and i was like yea id like to tell you more...can i come to your house? she looked at me like i was crazy so i was like "i'm not crazy" she was on the floor laughing...i'll work on that...and now she'll see me and say IM NOT CRAZY gosh.....it's funny and she just laughs and laughs....hahhaha
Elder stanely gave us these gummy things...one was like rootbeer flavored altough i hoped it was diet coke flavor...so that's what that picture is...hahaha
today: we got to go to the store....i bought a flat iron the converter i brought doesn't work...it kinda charged my camera...although that's possessed it like turns off on it's on...literally mind of it's own...please send help...hahah lol....hence not a lot of pics...it kinda went crazy and now won't load...IDK...but yea people look at you weird as i was like what's a nappie?! elder stanely was like trying to explain it I said a diaper?! yes... a diaper....lol......i love it here! oh yea and dear elder...doesn't work...if you sent them they get sent to my mission home..i will get them eventually haha but just email works...today we get to go to the temple!!! The Time has Come

This time has come my little friends.....I am leaving on a jet plane.....I can not wait to start my journey tomorrow morning! Papa and Grandma....and my mom might kill me as I'm demanding to be taken to the airport by 5am...and will not be in England till 7:30am....on Thursday...

Wish me luck!

I have been called to serve for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and will labor in the Scotland/Ireland Mission. For a period of 18months.

I have a testimony of this gospel! I know the Church is true! I know Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, and I know it is true! I know God lives, and I know he loves each of us. He is in every detail of my life, and he knows the true desires of my heart. If there is one thing I want everyone to know about me, is that I know my Savior lives, and I know he atoned for me and my transgressions so that I can live with my Father in Heaven!

My mom and sister will be posting and updating the blog from my emails.

I love you all.

See you soon.
